Maintain A Safe Work Environment

The Joint Industry Board of the Electrical Industry strives to maintain a work environment free of violence and threats by or against employees. Violence, or threats of violence, in any form is prohibited and will not be tolerated. 

Our policy covers all employees of the Joint Industry Board. Violence on the premises of the Joint Industry Board or at work-sponsored events will not be tolerated, condoned or permitted, whether engaged in by employees, supervisors, managers, non-employees (including contract workers or vendors), visitors, patients, or others who conduct business with the Joint Industry Board.  All acts or threats of violence, inappropriate aggression, harassment or intimidation in any form, whether such acts are verbal, written or physical, is strictly prohibited.

Any incident or threat of violence, regardless of who the offender may be, must be immediately reported to the Human Resources Department. The Joint Industry Board prohibits any form of discipline, reprisal, intimidation, or retaliation for reporting incidents of workplace violence of any kind, pursuing a workplace violence complaint, or cooperating in related investigations.

Promote Workplace Safety and Security

We are all responsible for safety and security in the workplace. Together, we must maintain open lines of communication with employees, supervisors, and managers, to stay current with workplace safety issues. Employees are encouraged to freely voice their safety concerns to Managers, Directors, or JIB Human Resources Department confidentially. We foster open dialogue to build trust to promote workplace safety.

Workplace Safety Training

Fire Drill and Non Fire Evacuation –  Director of Safety & Security and Coker Fire Drill Company will conduct on-site training. Dates will be announced.

Medical Emergency in the workplace  - JIB Medical Staff and Security Officer will respond to internal medical emergency. Please refer to the Medical Assistance Plan.

Regulatory Reporting of Work Related Injury and Illness

You are required to report work-related injuries and illnesses to the JIB Human Resources Department promptly by completing the required incident report. The Human Resource Department will process the claim and submit to the Worker’s Compensation Administrator.  Please refer to the worker’s compensation reporting procedure for further information. 

JIB Staff Information Hotline

In an effort to increase communication and timely response, we have created a new JIB Staff Information Hotline – (718) 820-4121.  

The staff information hotline will be updated with building operation related information including snow storm/inclement weather announcements as well as other emergencies.

This number will give employees direct access to information as it becomes available. Again, this is to be used for information purposes only to maintain communication, this number will not accept voice messages.
